Quarterback Patrick Mahomes has done something no Chiefs quarterback has done since 1987. He won a football game for the Chiefs after being drafted by them.
The last quarterback drafted by the Chiefs that has earned a win for the team was Todd Blackledge back in 1987.
Blackledge threw for 79 yards on 6-of-15 passing with no touchdowns and an interception. He got a good game from Christian Okoye he ran for 105-yards and a TD on 21 carries.
He also benefited from a 95-yard kick return TD from RB Paul Palmer in the 4th-quarter that broke a 13-13 tie and gave the Chiefs the win.
On Sunday, Mahomes threw for 284-yards on 22-of-35 passing with one interception and no touchdowns. He also benefited from a defensive fumble return for a TD.
He will now step back to the sideline and make way fro Alex Smith to face the Titans in the wildcard round next weekend.
