Comparing Cam Newton's Stats To The Rest Of The 2020 NFL Quarterbacks

In my opinion, Cam Newton did not pass the eye-test as a serviceable NFL quarterback this year. He did show some signs of being capable along the way, but in the end those flashes were few and far between.


Below is a look at some quarterback categories in which Newton is compared to other quarterbacks in an attempt to get a better idea of where he fit-in statistically.


Statistics are thru 15-games of the 2020 season.


Yards per pass attempt: 7.1

That ranks 22nd in the league and is tied with Mitch Trubinsky and Kyler Murray.

- Leader: DeShawn Watson, 8.8-yards


Yards per game: 172.5

The only player in the league with fewer yards per game is Dolphins rookie Tua Tagovailou.

- Leader: Patrick Mahomes, 316-yards


Completion percentage: 65.4%

That ranks at 21st in the league and is tied with Ryan Tannehill and Andy Dalton.

Leader: Drew Brees, 70.7%


Touchdown passes: 5

That ranks at 37th in the league and is tied with Mike Glennon, Brandon Allen and C.J. Bethard.

- Leader: Aaron Rodgers, 44


Interceptions: 5

There are nine QB's with more INT's. He is tied with Ben Roethlisberger, Justin Herbert and Phillip Rivers.

Interception percentage: 3%

3% of his passes are intercepted. That ranks at #33 in the league. The only players with a higher percentage are Carson Wentz, Drew Lock and Nick Mullins.

- Leader: Aaron Rodgers, 1%


Passing 1st-downs: 119

That ranks at #26, one behind Nick Mullins and one ahead of Gardner Minshew.

Ranks at #31, which is right behind Carson Wents and just ahead of Nick Foles.

Ranks 32nd in the league, one spot ahead of Dwayne Haskins and one slot behind Daniel Jones.

Sack percentage: 7.7%

Ranks at #29 and is tied with Dwayne Haskins.

Game winning drives: 2

Tied at 14th with six other players.
