Some Interesting Stats From The Patriots' Destruction Of The Chargers

There wasn't much to keep a fans attention after the mid-way point of the 2nd-quarter, but there were some interesting stats when this blowout was in the books.

--- Joey Bosa was supposed to cause problems for Tom Brady and the Patriots offensive line, but his one tackle and 0 sacks didn't help his teams cause.

--- Likewise for DE Melvin Ingram......2 tackles and 1 tackle for loss wasn't enough to consider him a factor in the game at all.

--- RB James White had 15 receptions and 0 rushing attempts.

--- Since 2002, Pacific & Mountain time zone teams have now been outscored 237-75 in the first half of playoff games kicking off at 10 a.m. PT

--- TE Rob Gronkowski was on the field for 93% of the Patriots' offensive plays but was only targeted once, with one catch for 25-yards.

--- The fourth quarter touchdown Antonio Gates had pushed him to 540 career postseason receiving yards, moving past Hall of Fame WR Charlie Joiner (539) and WR Vincent Jackson (503) to set the franchise’s all-time mark for career postseason receiving yards.

--- Rivers’ 331 passing yards set a postseason single-game career-high. It marked his second 300-yard postseason performance.

--- The AFC Championship game in Kansas City on Sunday could have game-time temperatures in the single digits.

--- This win probability chart shows how this game was over about halfway thru it.

--- The Patriots last road playoff win was also against the Chargers, in 2007, they are 0-2 since then. Brady was sacked twice and threw three INT's in the game, but the Patriots won with a Gostkowski field goal with a minute left in the game.

--- In their past four trips to the playoffs, the Chargers have lost in the divisional round.

--- The Patriots were efficient throughout the opening 30 minutes, going 5 for 5 in the red zone, 5 of 6 on third down and committing only one penalty.
