Saturday Wagering Update And Sunday's Picks

Writer's picture: CTCT

I went into Saturday at +$88. I left Saturday with less than that.

Tom Brady and the Buc's blew the doors off of the depleted Lions and made me $40 by covering the 10-points with ease with their 47-7 win.

The Cardinals, fighting for their playoff lives, laid an egg at home against 3rd-string QB C.J. Bethard and the 49'ers. It cost me $77 when the Card's lost 20-12.

The late game had me back in the win column when the 3-point underdog Raiders managed to lose a game they were winning by 2-points with 18-seconds left in the game and the Dolphins at their own 25-yard line.

That Dolphins win kept them in the driver's seat for the last Wildcard spot, and the Raiders covered the spread by only losing by 1-point.

+$30 for me after that crazy ending.

That left me at -$7 for the day, and bringing my running net total down to +$81.

Now to Sunday's games.........

1:00 Bears -8 at Jaguars (over/under 47)

This pick comes down to my belief that the Jaguars don't want to screw-up their 2021 draft like the Jets did last week. Trevor Lawrence is most likely only 4-months away from pulling-on a Jaguars jersey if the team loses their last two games. I don't even think the players themselves want to screw that up.

The Bears can make the playoffs if they win their last two games and I can't see the combination of that and the Jaguars "Tanking for Trevor" meaning anything less than a double-digit win for the Bears.

I'll lay $80 on the Bears -8 in this one.

4:25 Eagles -3 at Cowboys (over/under 50)

Jalen Hurts gets his third start of his rookie career against the weakest defense he's faced to this point. His running ability will be a big concern for the Cowboys, who have struggled to stop running attacks all season. That will open-up things in the passing game in which Hurts is making progress each week.

The Cowboys have scored over 30-points in their last two games. Andy Dalton is starting to get his feet under him in this offense. Ezekiel Elliot is expected to play, and Tony Pollard will get his share of carries to help keep the Eagles defense off-balance.

50-points seems like a big number to cover with these two teams, but I don't think the defenses are playing well enough to make this a low scoring game.

I'll take the over 50-points for $30 in this one.

8:20 Packers -3 vs Titans (over/under 54)

It's Aaron Rogers at home on prime-time television. That can't be good news for the Titans since the Packers are trying to clinch a first-round playoff bye.

The Titans are looking to clinch a playoff spot and may have it already before this one kicks-off. If the Ravens lose on Sunday afternoon the Titans will have their ticket to the dance in their pocket already. They can also clinch the division title with a win and a Colts loss to the Steelers in Pittsburgh.

Regardless of the playoff scenarios, the Packers have won four straight and are 6-1 at home this season. The Titans pass defense is bad, and the Packers should be able to move the ball all day.

The temperature should be in the 20's when this one gets going, and there will probably a little snow blowing around. That sounds like a perfect recipe for a Packers win.

I'll lay the 3-points and take Green Bay for $40.
